Gas Mileage Improvement
I haven’t had this thing long or there would be more mods. The wife and I don’t see eye to eye on the need for a lift, but anyway I knew I had to work on the gas mileage. My first tank of gas yielded about 203 miles. After new tires (irrelevant) a pace-setter air intake, an accell super coil, new cap, rotor, plugs and wires (ignition components weren't bad) and a 3-chamber flowmaster it got 232 plus it sounded and ran better.
Just thought Id post this.

I get 13-15 mpg in my '98 (6 cyl). I've been tracking it for about a year including the brand of gas and I find I getter better mileage from Shell and Chevon and worse from Unocal (76).

180 miles and the fuel light came on today. Filled up with 14.4 gallons. Between the Jeep and my Ram I am visiting the gas pumps quite often. At $2.02 a gallon here in San Diego (on base) it's getting kind of expensive

A little off topic. I love those ss s10s, they are bad for intake manifold issues ie; bolts backing out, vacuum issues, cracking. I like the fuel injection on them, they last forever.

I generally squeeze about 20mpg calculated with stock gears and 33"s, for engine mods I have a Taurus fan, clamp-on K&N filter on the intake, and a high flow muffler (which I kept quiet) - dont know how that compares to the tank size though; I fill it up when it gets between 1/4 and 1/2 and usually only fit like 6 gallons in. TJ's sender is real unstable. The aftermarket fuel level gauge I have in my custom dash updates much faster than the factory kind, and it jumps around like crazy.

My 2005 X with Automatic and 4.0L has never got more than 180 miles per tank. It's been as low as 150 miles before my gas light comes on. It's been to the dealer a few times, and they changed the shift points but there was no improvement.
My buddy kids me that someone must be stealing gas while I'm parked at night. John
