I slightly loosen my oil filter then place a plastic grocery bag around it while it is still attached and them loosen it the remaining amount and drop it in the bag? Always a few drips or some mess but it gets most of it. The TJ has alot of room to work with there compared to most/some filter!

I use this method HERE It works pretty well... and definately get the nipple... I have a hose attached to my nipple and it helps so much (couldn't resist the temptation to say I have a hose attached to my nipple )

Sometimes the things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. That people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil, that true love never dies. Doesn't matter if it's true or not. You see, a man should believe in those things, because those are the things worth believing in.

How far down does the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve hang off of the oil pan? I would think that it could easily get broken off by rocks or other debri? Is it best combo'd with a certain type of skid plate?

I put the Fumoto with nipple on both our jeep and my wifes Subaru Outback. The Outback filter hangs staight down and is real easy. The Jeep filter is still an issue but I sure am happy with the drain valve. I have a Tomken skip plate and just run a short piece of tubing down to my catch basin. The nipple does not extend down through the skid plate drain hole.

i want to see pics of the valve other than wayolife's.....i would think that it stands a great chance to get knocked off.....(i will be using it (if i get one) with a TBT OPS.....

This is the best picture I have of mine, you can see the valve over the opening in the skid to the left side.

EDIT- The skid is Skidrow

It does stand a great chance of being knocked off. In the ad for it it is recommended for use with a skid plate.

Where did you get it, part #?

I know some other people would love to do this upgrade.
I don't know the part number...I got it on sale at performance products. The kit was very complete, you will definetly want to tape up the threads before installing though, to prevent any oil leaks.
I find it difficult that a rock is going to take out the fumoto valve if you have an oil pan skid. Couple it with a 1" body lift and it is tucked up nice.

Where exactly did you mount it? Do you have A/C? I bought the transdapt dual filter relocation kit and I am still looking on where to mount it.....PICS would be awesome

I do not have A/C. Right now I have the filter mount securely zip-tied to the passenger side radiator support. Seems cheezy, but it does work. No leaks and it is well out of harm's way...not to mention all I have to do is pop the hood and replace it quickly with an oil change. I will post pics if I can remember, otherwise shoot me a pm and I will get you what you need.

Oil Filter Change

I have a boat with remote filters. I loosen them just enough to put a zip lock type bag over the filter then i unscrew them keeping the bag as tight as i can with some paper towels under the filter. I can usually get them off and into the bag with a drop or two of oil lost. Oil in the bilge of a boat is a real pain.

Haven't changed oil in my new unlimited yet so don't know how much room there is.
