Full Door Rattle

I've had my 03 Rubi for about 4 months now (had my YJ since '92 - lol) The Rubi has full doors - and since I took the hard top off - they really seem to rattle. Never heard anything with the top on and the half doors on my YJ are quiet. General question is whether this rattle is normal for the full doors with the top off? If not, any advice on tightening up the catches? Don't wanna pop the door panels, etc unless I know its gonna do some good. Thanks for any advice.

Welcome to the forum!

The rattle is most certainly NOT normal...I run with full doors and the folding frames in place to hold a full-length bikini top on, and I noticed the same problem...turned out that it was just a loose latch. I've also heard of linkages loosening up inside. It could also be a hinge moving around on you. Check that everything's good and tight.

If you are not running door surrounds the doors usually rattle.

Why would someone run a full door and not keep the surround in place? Never occurred to me to do that. I guess that would make it rattle.

Not having door surrounds can cause the door rattle. If you only have a hard top you will need to buy the door surrounds. They are used with the soft tops. I bought mine on ebay for half price around $125.

Gotta be the door surrounds. Only have a hard top for the Rubi - and the yj only has a soft top with half doors - so never had the problem before. Thanks much for the help -

Mine came with both tops and the bikini...makes sense. Never thought of it that way.

IMO the better option is to pull the door off. I pull the doors and the top at the sometime.

Doors off is a cool option- and thanks for the 1/2 door offer - but think I'm goin with the safari doors - was thinkin about gettin 'em anyway - door rattle just speeds up the process -
