Fuel pump issue, works when I bypass the relay

Here is the scoop. My TJ will not start unless I jump the relay...this completely rules out the fuel pump. Next up is the auto shutdown relay. The ASD is not the problem, because obviously I have spark, because I drive the Jeep all day if I jump the relay. Not the cam sensor, or the crank sensor either, because once again the Jeep is getting spark and no fuel.

Any ideas at all? Thanks in advance!

Seems to me it would have to be the relay you are jumping...

I swapped the relay with known good relays, no change

the only other thing it could be would be the wiring. When you are "jumping" the relay what all are you cutting out of the equation? Fuses? Wires? Anything?

I am pulling the relay out completely and jumping the pin supplying power to the relay and fuel pump + pin

Hmm, okay. It has to be the relay or where the relay plugs into.

remember, you have 2 + wires going to a relay... the power and the "switch". you need to figure out which one you dont have and back track from there

Well I believe the "switch" comes from the pcm, after the pcm gets the signal from the asd. Am I correct with this statement?

Ever find out the answer?

We have the same problem. The same wire feeds the ASD and the fuel pump relay soooo I think it is the wires at some point. Did you ever find out what yours was?
