Fuel guage gone CrAzY!

I'll start with I know I have roughly a 1/2 tank of gas going by my mileage. I leave the house and gauge shows half a tank but after driving for around 10 miles the gauge drops to empty and the light comes on. After about 5 minutes or so, the gauge goes back to half tank. I have made several short trips today and this is happening frequently. Any ideas?

Bad sending unit there was a recall about this in the early ones like ours. Call your local dealer or visit, give them your vin and try will tell you if it was ever done. You can also request a build sheet from jeep.com and they will tell you also.

yeah im actually having this problem too, sometimes i'll start er up and it shows an empty tank. shutting the engine down and turning it back on seems to reset the fuel gauge.

does the dealer replace it for free?
