Just for clarity, do you mean the alternative fuel device for use with hydrogen, or a large gas tank?

For a TJ, most people go with the setup that I run.
Get this fuel cell:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=RCI%2D2161A&N=700 +115&autoview=sku

Then cut a hole in the top of the fuel cell and buy this ring kit:
http://www.kore4x4customs.com/asccustompages/products.asp?fpage=1&categoryID=15&productID=4&car tID=384547451

It allows you to use your stock sending unit and comes with a gasket for the cell. Then you just exented your fuel lines using some 5/16" FUEL INJECTION line and extend the wires for the power to the pump. Use one of the bungs on top of the cell to attach to your stock charcoal canister or just run a tube up high on your roll bar and you are done. Here is what it looks like installed before I ran my breather line to the charcoal canister and before I mounted to the jeep:

Any major issues with running one on a dd (other then gassing up from inside the jeep) such as gauges, causing codes to pop up, etc

You might get a hint of a gas smell every once in a while but a cover over it would help that and you will here the pump running (buzzing).

Just one more sound in the jeep. Probably going to do this to help my departure angle (skids getting pretty dented) and I would like to strech it in the future anyway.

I might be wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected quickly, a fuel cell has a type of foam in it that will break down over time, possibly clogging the filter. Also, it won't pass many state inspections.

I don't think all of them have the foam. I have heard the ones with foam will deteriorate over time, but I guess a fuel filter would help eliminate problems.

good to know, and not too worried about inspections. We only have to get them when ownership changes (unless I get pulled over and get some flack about it). But its going to be hard to notice even if I do get pulled over. That and its eventually going to be trailered
