Front / Rear Differential gasket part number?

Hey guys,

I'm having a heck of a time trying to find front and rear differential gaskets for my 05 Rubi. The idiots at Advnaced have no idea if they've got gaskets for a D44 because they can only search their inventory by make/model of vehicle and nothing shows up for 2003-2005 Rubi's.

Does anyone know the part number so I can carve it into a 1/2" thick sheet of steel and crack it over the head of the idiot at Advnaced?

I'd rather not go to the Stealership for this... plus I think parts is closed on Sundays.

Thanks!

- j

Why don't you just buy RTV? Everyone seems to feel RTV is superior to gaskets for differential applications. Plus the diffs come from the factory with an RTV gasket, at least my 05 LJ did.

I don't see why not, I thought the axles had a gasket from the factory?

Nope, it's always the black high temp RTV, and it's been said to work better than the Lube Lockers.

The RTV used on mine was grey.

If you want a gasket (other than Lubelocker, which is a waste IMO) tell them you have a 1970 Chevy K5. IIRC, they came with a stock Dana 44.

I just grabbed a tube of "The Right Stuff" RTV sealant. This should do the trick.

Thanks again guys!

One of my buddies recently used "the right stuff" and he said it was better than the regular RTV. Next time I pull my diff cover off that is what I'll use.

Hmm...looking at my rear mine is too. Looks like I have a bit of a front leak. Anyway, the stuff you buy in the store for the gaskets is black.

I settled long ago on Permatex's RTV "Ultra Black" for my differential covers. It has NEVER leaked, not even a minor drip.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Mine was grey as well. I think it is typically used in higher tolerance applications commonly found in many imports. I just use the permatex black and it works great and is easily removed when need be. It seems more easily removed than the grey stuff, but it could be just me... Avoid the lube locker at all costs. It's not worth the plastic bag it was shipped in.

I also have used "The Right Suff". It works great on diffs.

Easy on the "idiots" at Advance, some may take offense to that. If they had the same steel plate there would be a lot less of customers like you.
