Front air shocks swap??

Does anyone know a part number for an air shock that will bolt right on the front of a 97 Wrangler? I know I've seen it done, and have tried to cross referance shock numbers, but I haven't had any luck.

Are you speaking of an air shock that would adjust the ride height?I don't think I have ever seen one on the front of a DD.

You really are not supposed to use them on the front. I recommend (and use myself) air bags in the front coils for when I plow with my Jeep. AirLift part #80702 fit perfectly in the front TJ coils and run about $80 shipped. You can set the bump stop length so that the airlift bags only get used when you load up the suspension. An airshock can affect ride quality much more.... But - if you insist - i copied these directions from a guy on a plow site that I have bantered over the years with on the airbag vs airshock debate. He swears by the air shocks. His spelling and grammar are pretty lousy - but he at least knows his stuff on the air shocks....

Quote:
Air shocks can add about 1,000# of lift to the F end. depends on how much air pressure you put in them. Pump them up for the plow let some air out when you take the plow off. You can even use them to help hook up the plow... if you drive up to mount the plow and your jeep is to low then pump up the shocks until the jeep matches the plow mount.

I've done this about 5 times already. I'll give you the links and with a Little time and pencil and paper you can figure out what you need.

1) Look up the shock for your application. (your current shock) and write it down http://catalog.tenneco.com/monroe/eCatalog.do

2) Go hear and find your shock (Use the serch put your number in the serch box) write down the compressed length, extended length, top mount style and bottom mount style. go up to page 2 and familiarize yourself with the mounting styles. your bottom mount is XP4.http://www.monroe.com/catalog/docume...engthSheet.pdf

3) go down to "Air Shocks" ( use the search) Find an air shock that matches as close to yours as possible. in your case it looks like the MA763 is close, it has a bottom mount XP5 The bottom mount is 1/16 biger.. at worst a litle filing) Order the shocks or cross reference to Gabrial Hi-jacker
Good luck!

Once again, what is the purpose of wanting to put air shocks on the front of you TJ?

I also run a Snowbear plow in the winter. I thought the shocks might be a cheaper way. The price for those Air lift bags seem very resonable. I think i might look into that method. I have seem the shock formula on the plowsite before, but I think I might do the bags.
