freon capacity

how much freon does a 97 wrangler take. the sticker fell off and the wife wont ride in something with out ac.

Freon can leak out, then your a/c will not work.

yes i understand that i have fixed my leak and now i need to know many ounces of freon it takes.

I'm sorry I was replying to the post directly above mine. I thought it was a different poster that did not understand how the a/c system worked. I do not know what the capacity is, but I will try to look it up.

This is my first few posts on this forum (been browsing for a while), but I work in the HVAC industry so I had to jump in this thread.

Well, this is what I get for going by memory. Here is what the shop manual lists for my '98

walmart is your friend on this

Just go there or your closest autozone, o'reillys, or advance and get one of those cans of the proper refrigerant with the "reusable" hose nozzle that has the built-n gauge and follow the instructions and you should be good to go. It has worked great on my '98 for the past 2 summers - blows very cold!
