Found a space for my Hi-Lift (PICS)

Doesn't restrict view at all

I had the "muffler clamp" mod on the rear of my roll bar behind the rear seat. But I've now got a 15LB Powertank I need to mount. This means I had to relocate the Hi-Lift. It fits rather well up top. It doesn't restrict my view, and doesn't rattle at all. I did have to cut about 2 1/2" off the black plastic cover for the rear-wiper,,,but you wouldn't notice unless you looked closely.

Nice idea. Is there enough room to do that with a soft top? It looks like it sticks up a lot, do you think it would fit inside the rear corner/fold of the top?

Good spot, If you put some heavier duty mounts in there, It could 'help' as a spreader bar. Just an idea.

I don't have a soft-top,,,,so I can't comment. But with a hard-top,,,it works perfectly. Has this been done before? I hope I'm not the first one to figure this out.

Exactly why I didn't put mine outside the truck. And in addition to being hidden, now it'll stay clean and rust-free.

Good place for it. I was trying to figure out where to put mine. My friend had his mounted about 2 feet down from yours. Seems like a nice place to block your rearview and to give people in the backseat a nice solid piece of steel to crack their heads on. I'm gonna try your location with my soft top when I get back to school in January.

Looks like a good spot to mount it. Only thing I would change is the size of the bolt holding it. Those clamps look to be 5/16" or 3/8" and are probably about grade 2. If you ever get in a wreck the weight of the jack will more than likely break those clamps. I'd hate to have a highlift flying around inside the Jeep. It could leave a mark.

I strongly suggest a 1/2"-5/8" bolt to mount it. I use shaved 5/8" grade 5 bolts on both ends. Bob

The bolts are actually A bolt. It's a u-shaped bolt with threads on each end. This u-shaped bolt goes around the roll-bar, and through holes on the clamp. Then the nuts "crimp" the assembly around the bar.
How did you get 5/8" Bolts on yours? Pics please.

1/4" brackets. The 5/8" bolts are welded to the brackets. The holes in the Jack are 5/8", but they are egg shaped so I shaved the sides of the bolts so they would fit in the holes. The bolts are big enough to drill and put locks in as well. Bob

Please tell me you aren't serious about that.
