Found this crack in my door. Will JB Weld do?

I was getting out of my Jeep today and noticed this crack on the door. I don't know if it's new or from the previous owner, but it looks fairly fresh. I have door surrounds, which I thought would help avoid this - maybe not.

Anyway, will JB weld hold this for a while?

It might hold for a little bit, but check Craigslist for welders. You can probably find one there that will fill that crack for around $40 or less. Grind and rattle can it. All better!

I thought about this, but it's pretty thin metal. If they don't know what they are doing they can warp the door and then you'll have real problems. Plus to weld it I would imagine you need to take everything off the door including the window or you run the risk of melting that as well. More trouble than it is worth IMHO. I'm still thinking JB weld and drill the ends of the crack. Anyone have any luck w/ this approach???

a good welder can fix it forever, in about 10 minutes.

take the door off, take the plastic off and walk it into a small-time local welding shop.

Find a friend with a small MIG welder. Pull the door panel off, roll the window up and protect it from spatter/heat and you'll be out the door in 10 minutes. Take the weld down with a flap disc and prime/paint.

I've used my Millermatic 135 for lots of body work, small stitch welds don't cause warping.

That's a common crack area. I've had one on my full drivers door for years now.

Wow forgot about this thread - started this one a while ago. I think I'm going to try to weld it next week.

JB Weld will not hold. One failed attempt was enough for me. Lasted about 5 min. Had to get a body shop with a spot welder to fix it. I was told MIG welders get too hot and could be an issue w/ the thin metal the door is made from. Good luck all!
