The fog/driving light problem is a common problem with Chrysler products. The same Multi Function Switch (MFS) is used on several Chrysler products including my 04 SRT4 (turbo neon). I tried changing relays, looking for bad wiring, I bought a new MFS and that fixed the problem.

The MFS I got from Autozone came in a Duralast box but was very Chrysler down to the latest part number and the Pentastar logo on the switch. They were the only place to even have a switch in stock for fogs. Everywhere else was useless.

The vast majority of parts such as this come from the same factory the OEM got it from (the automakers make very few of their own parts.)

Where exactly did your spray the cleaner? You definitely might be on to something here.

I sprayed up into steering column where turn signal lever comes out. If I remember right you can look up in there and see part of the switch and part of it that moves with push pull of fog light button. I used a electronic contact cleaner that had some kind of protective anti oxidation lube in it. I had nothing to lose trying it and so far it's worked for me

Well, my new switch from autozone came in and it looks pretty identical to the what's on the Jeep now. While installing the new switch my FSM indicates that the negative battery terminal should be disconnected and isolated to prevent "ACCIDENTAL AIR- BAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY." I wonder how necessary that actually is... but better safe than sorry I guess.

Will try and install the new switch tomorrow and I'll follow up with some pics.

If you cant get some good pics of the wiring to the switch. I am looking to identify the "orange and white" wire that was mentioned above.

Actually, that particular warning is No Joke. It's very necessary. Airbags can be deployed quite easily by messing with the associated harnesses, and it
can
kill
you.

Well if I can help it I'd rather not have the airbag take my head off. Like I said... better safe than sorry

Buy any style of a 20amp switch that you prefer. The Stock style is nice, but it's mounted down by the shifter. I didn't care for that. I got one with a green indicator because the dash indicator was green. Mounted it in the dash panel right by the multi-switch.

I have since pulled the fog lamp relay and installed a jumper wire so they'll stay on with the hi-beams.
is this write up valid for the 05 as well...i think they may have made some changes between 04 and 05

To bypass the multi switch. The fog lights are the white w/ orange trace wire on the multi switch.
1. I bought a fuse tap from Napa. The taps from autozone were only rated at 10 amps. I tapped into theload side of the Acc/ cig liter fuse (20 amp).
2. Pull the fuse and use a test lamp or meter. One terminal will have 12v the other terminal nothing. Put the tap into the terminal with no voltage with the fuse. Your circuit will be protected by that fuse now.

When I switch on the fog lites the dash indicator lites up, and when you hit the hi beams they go out. That fog lamp relay only shuts the lites off when you hit the hi beams. The fog lites run through the normally closed set of contacts in that relay. There is no other relay for the fog lites. So make sure you tap off of the load side of a 20amp fuse and use a 20amp or better switch.
I followed these instructions and the white with orange trace is to my parking/running lights, it also killed my dash lights. Now that I have this repaired and these lights working again any ideas on which wire is the correct one for my 05 Rubicon????

I could sure use a little help with this.
