First Lift!

Today i got my first lift kit. A rough country 2.5 inch suspension lift with springs and shocks. I plan on installing it next weekend and was wondering what this would include. I know i need to get a spring compressor and i have torx sets. Is there anything else?

Nope. Factory lines will be fine. Depending on the kit, you should have everything you need.

But honestly, its true, start soaking bolts in PB. Shock bolts, links and so on...

get a alinment foresure if you want to keep your tires. a drive around the block will tell you if there is any problems with steering but with a 2.5 there should not be any problems

At least it isn't on a YJ, those bolts are (or mine was) a pain to get out, ones on my 98 TJ wasn't so bad, didn't have to sawzall any of them.
Really isn't hard to do, just take your time and do it safely. Make sure you have it sitting on a good set of jack stands and do the front and rear seperatly, don't put the entire Jeep on stands (too much risk and no need to, unless you are having someone do one end while you do the other).

Follow the directions and it all should go fine and you should be able to complete it in an afternoon. Also it will be much easier with a spring compressor and make sure you have the springs seated in the brackets correctly.

Get it done and enjoy.

You could probably do it without spring compressors. But they will make it easier

I needed new lines... mine would not reach at full droop and the wheels turned.

I just put the same lift om my 98 saturday. Well actually I just got the front completed. You absolutely should get strut compressors(borrow from autozone). Also, you will need paper towels for the blood, at least 8 beers and some sad sucker to help. These are mandatory! I went ahead and got a adj. frt track bar. Start early!

Sorry youre right, no beer. But seriously, it took about 5 hours to get everything rusty off. I had to cut the frt shocks off with a sawzall. You'll also need deep well metric sockets not regular ones and a ball-joint separator. Also a breaker bar and a big hammer.

Alright we have everything but the spring compress and ball joint separator. I know auto zone has the spring compress il check for the ball joint separator.

I just installed my RC 2.5" last week. Did rear and steering stabilizer one day, did front end 2 days later. You will need a spring compressor. I had v-8 zj springs with 2 1/2" spacers in the front, and the rc springs were 1/2" longer yet, and I added a 1" spacer. In rear I had stock fronts; again, RC springs were longer. In front, with swaybar discoed, control arm hitting top of bracket, and jacking up opposite side, still needed compressor.
Soak all of the shock bolts with wd-40, pb blaster, something...I broke off 3 of the rear upper shock bolts when I put in new shocks 3 years ago...royal PITA!!! Used small cutting wheel on die grinder to cut 2 off, other one I was able to chisel off, and still had to drill holes so bolts would fit through. I even cut off part of the inner fender well to do this(no BL at the time).
Oh, and put the stickers on the shocks after you install them...wouldn't want to not be able to see them nice stickers.
