Finding TDC on '01 4.0

I am performing the Camshaft position sensor alignment process the manual says to remove spark plug from #1 and feel for compression while turning the camshaft the direction it turns while running then after pressure is felt align to TDC on this guage on the engine.. the problem is i don have the guage that is pictured.

Am I missing something or is there another way. Thanks.

1 other thing: Looking from the front - the vibration dampener turns counterclockwise while running correct? correct me if im wrong.

ya you want #1 piston at very top, take the belt off (easier to turn), pull your plugs and jeep in N, i also suggest d/c battery just to be safe, but turn crank till piston is as high as it goes, make sure you rotate it few time as sometimes (depends on how the crank is set-up and i cant remember on jeeps) it will come up but its not the "full stroke" i dunno if thats true but i know i turned and my buddy said stop, and it ran great

the manual said specifically not to do it opposite but didn't say which direction the belt goes.
