most the times not, if you do get a AEM Dryflow or a AFE Dryflow

some times its neccisary, like if you have flat fenders for instance

mine seemed to have slightly more pep at high RPMs, while merging...but hey, the 400lbs of armor, tools and recovery gear pretty much nullified any gain.

its also a huge pain in the arse to keep clean. i'm going to switch back to the factory box and just bore the hole bigger & use PVC piping, along with my AEM tube.

thats really not true. While K&N's are bad, the reputable dryflow filters like AEM and AFE make a quality product that does good. while they might not filter as well as paper, they filter better than others.

I run an AFE dryflow filter and i just pulled my filter to wash it, after 8,000 miles, and the past 3 months it raining a total of 1 1/4" there wasnt a spot of dust inside my intake tube.
