fan clutch replacement, easy and cheap way

I just replaced fan clutch off 04 tj which was a huge pain. Research for some ideas but none worked that well. It needed to be replaced anyway but still had problems overheating which a little more coolant and new radiator cap solved. Running below 210 even when at idle with ac on full blast in which it would always overheat. Anyways.. just wanted to share for anyone taking off their fan clutch. Borrowed fan clutch wrench from auto zone. When you are trying to take off, leave fan shroud for the time just to keep out of your way. Take off belt. I used a LONG TONGUE CHANNEL-LOCK PLIER that i slipped behind the water pump pulley to use as a fulcrum. Did not use channel-locks on pulley cause i didn't want teeth marks on it. The pulley is bolted to a 4 star in which you are just using the pliers inserted end to catch one of the ends of the attachment to pulley. Once you have it bound, using the clutch wrench, tap with a hammer to break it loose and should come off easy. The rest is fairly easy. Just take off 4 bolts for fan shroud. Take off fan and clutch and replace. Put belt back on. Hope this helps.

pic just shows what is behind pulley that you are using as a fulcrum point to loosen fan.
