Exhaust Manifold Stud - 2.5L - Do I need to do anything?

As is common, the forward-most stud on my 2.5L (1997) is broken.

I had a leak, but after changing the gasket and tightening up the other bolts, no more leak, and all seems fine.

I have some performance things happening (sputter at low rpm gear changes), but I think the new plugs, roter, cap should take care of that.

Do I need to do anything about this? I don't have any EZ-outs, but can get some, and don't want to pay the dealer to mess with it. Do you think the performace issues are due to the broken stud?

How hard would this be to fix? I've done it on a Chevy 350, but the 67 Chevelle had a little more compartment room than the TJ.

Thoughts?

KD

The missing stud could be messing up the torque application onto the manifold causing it to possibly warp. It may have a small leak, and over-time it may crack as a result. Definitely get it fixed - I'd recommend getting some easy outs. Be sure to hit it up with some PB Blaster before you use the easy out since EZ outs tend to snap if you put a lot of force on them. A leak shouldnt be causing the sputtering though - unless its so rediculously significant that its throwing the O2 sensor off.

Thanks, didn't consider the warping/cracking thing.

Where's the best place to pick up the EZ outs, Sears, the auto parts store, what.

Never used PB Blaster, what is it and where do I get it?

Thanks.
