Exhaust leak In Front Pipe
I have a leak in my front pipe. Seems that all three cats are attached to this thing and the patches i have tried keep blowing out after a short while. Any ideas? I can't find a decent replacement for under 550. Also, will i fail emissions check if say either i just had my top two cats at the headers or only the main one down at the muffler? Just curious. I don't really want to do anything illegal as I need to drive this thing around day to day. I don't have the money as I am laid off at the moment to buy a new front pipe.

Good luck on finding some work!Things will pick up!I know with the tough emission laws here in California you have to have all the cats!I don't know about Ohio but you probably need them there also for annual inspections. Is it your exhaust manifold that has the leaks, or the downpipe below it?

Could you have a muffler shop cut out the hole and weld in a new piece of pipe. That couldnt be very expensive compared to a new pipe.

yeah i might do that today or on tues. makes me wonder about cutting the emissions system off at the down pipe and putting on a new cat which i need and then the muffler and running a short side pipe
