exhaust leak between header and exhaust piping

So i have an exhaust leak at the connection where the header connects to the rest of the exhaust, i was told that there is no seal in here other than some metal things and mine just moved which is why i have the leak is this true or was i told wrong?

Try tightening the bolts first. I had a leak because the bolts worked loose.

There shouldn't be any gaskets between exhaust manifold and downpipe.Just 2 bolts above each cat.

Well between my 02 and my son's 04 both have gone from stock exhaust manifolds to headers and neither of them come with any type of seals or gaskets. It's a straight up install with just tightening the 4 nuts and bolts.

I believe i have what the boogieman linked to above. the bolts that are in right now are rusted and a half im just going to cut them all out and then put new ones in and reset the metal ring if i have to.
