exhaust leak between header and exhaust piping

So i have an exhaust leak at the connection where the header connects to the rest of the exhaust, i was told that there is no seal in here other than some metal things and mine just moved which is why i have the leak is this true or was i told wrong?

Try tightening the bolts first. I had a leak because the bolts worked loose.

There shouldn't be any gaskets between exhaust manifold and downpipe.Just 2 bolts above each cat.

Your 98 didn't have the 2 piece manifold and Y pipe...

Well between my 02 and my son's 04 both have gone from stock exhaust manifolds to headers and neither of them come with any type of seals or gaskets.It's a straight up install with just tightening the 4 nuts and bolts.

I believe i have what the boogieman linked to above. the bolts that are in right now are rusted and a half im just going to cut them all out and then put new ones in and reset the metal ring if i have to.
