engine insulation
quick question: I had to remove the foil sandwiched insulation from the top of the intake manifold to get to some of the the intake/exhaust manifold bolts & managed to destroy the flimsy thing in the process...should I be worried about melting anything?
side note: tightening the bolts fixed my mystery whistle that I've been chasing down for months...woot

Old model TJs don't even have this. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Its not a deal breaker but it does help insulate the fuel rail and injectors from heat soak when the engine is shut off hot.You could experiance hard starts or false starts in very hot weather. There is a bulletin about it someplace, probably cheap enough to replace it if you are really worried about it.
