I just got everything from Summit. I didnt get Centric rotors though, got all EBC pads and rotors front + rear. Seem fine to me. Really helped the 37s.

Well its been almost a year now that I've been running this combo and made the original post and my brakes still feel great. I almost want to see how they handle 35's (need new tires soon)!!!!

Time for brakes

(On a side-note, what should one normally expect from the factory brakes on an '06 LJ Rubicon?)

So my brakes are starting to squeak a little which means it's time for an upgrade. I've read the threads and in my rig's current configuration I've decided to go with the Centric/EBC combo.

I did a quick Google for part numbers & prices and came up with the list below. I assume that the price for pads is for both sides, if I'm wrong please correct me. Is there ever a case where you would change pads on just one corner?

Finally, I haven't decided yet if I will tackle this myself or defer to a professional. I've never done brakes before... If anybody out there can suggest roughly what an install would cost that would be great.

Rotors at AutoPartsWarehouse

Front - $58.28 each
Part Number: CE120.67045
Manufacturer Number: 120.67045

Rear - $50.11 each
Part Number: CE120.67063
Manufacturer Number: 120.67063

Rotor Subtotal: $216.78

Pads at AutoPartsWarehouse

Front - $137.65 (Yellow) (assuming this is for both sides)
Part Number: E35DP41255R
Manufacturer Number: DP41255R

Rear - $62.96 (Green) (assuming this is for both sides)
Part Number: E35DP61673
Manufacturer Number: DP61673

Pad Subtotal: $200.61

Parts Total: $417.39

Final cost TBD based on tax, shipping and possibly installation.

Alternatively, finances may force a muti-stage upgrade. Particularly if I'm wrong about the "both sides or each" question on the pads.
Front Subtotal: $254.21
Rear Subtotal: $163.18

Those pads you listed come in pairs, you'll get one for each side, left and right.

Oh gosh no, that's not what I meant.

Those original part numbers you listed are for a pair, both left and right pads. So, you would order quantity one for the front of the Yellows and quantity one for the rear of the Greens.

Wouldn't it be easier to say that pads generally come packaged per axle?

Heh... I know the calendar says "Tuesday" but this has been more like a Monday!

So my original costs were accurate at $417.39 total or $254.21 front and $163.18 rear.

Aye. I remember a physics professor (a long, long time ago) who always harped on the importance of specifying your unit of measure. "I don't care if it's furlongs-per-fortnight, just specify what you're using!"

Edit: That was directed at AutoPartsWarehouse who failed to put the unit of measure on the product, *not* at robncar!

Rob / Blaine, thanks for your advice!

No matter... This is a good combo for ft brakes. The difference from the oem pads and rotors is amazing!

Doing a search for the yellow pads. Added search for my Explorer also. Found RED pads for it. If the yellow is better than the green, is the red better than the yellow?

No, the Red it not better, except for high speed road racing. The Red have the best hot stopping abilities, but their cold stopping abilities suck. They were made for racing, not DD use.

The Yellow were made for DD use and road racing. They do it all because they have good hot and good cold stopping abilities. On a DD, cold stopping ability is just as important as hot stopping ability. So the Yellow are the better DD choice. Red would be inappropriate for DD use.

Read what EBC says about both types of pads. They clearly explain all this.

It looks like thepartsbin.com and carpartwholesale.com have IDENTICAL prices, and currently there is a 10% discount code TPBcart or CPWcart (I found codes at retailmenot.com) bringing 98 TJ front EBC yellows and Centric premiums to $204.06 shipped. Just thought I'd share. Perhaps one of the two places is faster to ship, or has better customer service.

^^ There is a difference between "partsbin" and "thepartsbin." Just wondering which you used.
