Durango 160 amp alternator to 06 TJ swap

GUYS NEED HELP FAST!!!

I am looking at a 06 durango 3.7 L with a 160 amp alternator. I hear its direct bolt, maybe swap the pully. Need some info on this. whether it works or not and if its the right specs. THanks!!! :2thumbsup:

this is what you need

04 Durango 4.7L 160amp alternator
USA Industries Alternator
PART#: USA2913
MFR#: A2913

that's the only one i've found the research to prove its a direct swap. just a simple adjustment to where the power cable bolts up.

136 amp out of a 4.0L cherokee works also. I used one from a 2000...

this swap doesnt work for us '97-02 guys right?

I'd also love some more info on this swap (does it work for 97-02?)!!

I want to eventually run a HF ham radio, along w/ tons of other accessories (audio, ham radios, winch, etc). 160 amp would be awesome!!

Thanks guys.

hmm haven't heard the 160amp one before....i'd like more info too:)

i hunted for more info on the 136 amp upgrade and stumbled on to the 160 durango swap. i can't find that damn thread anywhere.....

fiveoverr 10-20-2009 08:44 PM

i just can't find it damn. i did see a lot of info on late 90s gc that had a optional 160amp makes it exactly the same as a usual 136amp swap.

I'm curious about this too. Will they work on a 97?

I used to have a write up from Pirate4x4 saved on one of my computers. I will see if I can find it and post what I have....it's been quite a few years though. Give me a day or so and I will post up what if anything I find.

Ya, I'd like to know to. Bump!

Ok I think I found it, but it's on my website and it's a word document w/ pictures. That being said....I can't have you guys crashing my site for it or I will have to take it down. If you don't have MS Word you can't open it. I can convert it to PDF form but that will have to be tomorrow night. Maybe I will do that then post it.

And yes it works on a 97, the original person that came up with this upgrade had a 97 TJ.

All that I can contribute but, you guys need to sharpen your researching skills. I got a 160 amp alternator from advance for something like $160. It was for a '98 V-8 Durango (either V-8). It was plug and play. The core charge was $32 so, I just kept my old alternator. The belt size was the same but, I replaced it because it was time to. You guys are not the first ones to look at the upgrade. I don't want to seem like a search nazi but, if a 58 yr old senior citizen can find answers on the internet, it should be easy for you PSP 3 guys.

I have a PDF converting program, that's not the problem, the problem is I don't know how much traffic my website can handle. I know it can handle a lot but with Jeep boards all over the world with 1000's of members, I can't support someone reposting this all over the place. That's my only fear right now. My website is also my business website...soooo we can't have it going down for too much site traffic due to Jeep upgrades.
