Drying out your TJ

So I've had my TJ for like 5 months now and Seattle has had some great weather all week, so my top's off. Well, it's now raining! Whoohoo, lucky me. When I get home and park it in the garage, is there anything special I should do to help the seats dry out or anything? I was already planning on pulling the carpet soon, so I may just speed that up..

Gotta love the Seattle weather.

I would direct a fan onto the whole instrument cluster/dash board.

Soak up as much water as you can with towels and a wet-vac, and tomorrow, if it's sunny, park it in the sun all day. Pull your carpet too, since you plan on pulling it there is no reason in waiting anymore. Leave it in the sun, you can always put it back when it drys until you want to remove it permanently.

You may get a check airbag light, it's fine... you clockspring is wet if that's the case. Let it dry out in the sun, it will fix itself 90% of the time.

You'll be fine, don't worry... we don't even know if the light will come on yet. Your cruise control may not work either if you have it installed.

Most if not all of your carpet should come out without removing anything, like seats and such. Leave them out for a few days.

You probably did this, but pull the drain plugs.

I don't know about the new TJ's, but the earlier ones click from under the dash when the interior gets really wet. It is a relay, I'm not sure which one, but it will dry out on its own (well, it always has over the last 9 years). Otherwise just follow the others advice, and either pull or prop up your carpet so the underside can dry.

i put a large fan on top once when it rained for a couple days and couldn't park outside to dry. just a big square wal-mart fan and jerry-rigged it to stay. worked well.

Stick a dehumidifier in it for a day or two.

I'm in NewEngland if your putting it in a garage it usually drys pretty fast... in the mean time put a towel on your seet if you have to drive it and make sure your drain plugs!! It's the first thing I do with any of my Jeeps.

HAHA It's a Jeep it's supposed to get wet!!!!!!!!!

haha I lucked out quite a bit actually. I parked under a tree at work this morning without even realizing it. So my seat was dry and it was just a drizzle the whole hour home. But I loved it. That thread talking about the zen happiness while in a jeep hit there. Warm weather, low 70's, light drizzle, the smell of rain in a slow ride. Perfect commute home!

something about drain plugs

i know there is two in the front, one on drivers side and one on passengers side

and after pulling the carpet in the tub .. there appears to be two plugs in the left side ... are those also drain plugs?
and .. are there any other drain plugs?
