Drying out the jeep
Well I checked the weather last night because it was cloudy, weatherchannel.com said it would rain overnight tonight. I got back from class a little bit ago and it has been raining for a couple of hours now(only 12 hours early!)!
Anyways, i know this has probably been covered, but search is down and google was no help. My doors and top were off, so i just went out and put them up, its pretty wet. My carpets are out and plugs are pulled, but the seats are pretty wet. I dryed all the plastics but the seats arent working(plus its still raining so its a little hard to move around with the doors on now!). Supposedly it's going to rain/be cloudy for the next 2-3 days and temps between 30 and 60. I dont want the seats to freeze overnight and i don't want the mildew smell from the seats. How do i dry it out while it's still raining? I'm at college in an apartment so the garage is a no go. I thought about an extension chord and fan but im not sure moving the cold air over it will dry it? Any suggestions? I know this is a newb question, but honestly I've never had it get wet when I didnt have a garage or sunshine!

Yea this has happened to me more times that I can count. Just put your top back on and put the fan in it like you said. Its probably gonna take a few hours to dry (more than likely overnight), but I wouldnt worry about a mildew smell...Ive never gotten one. Good luck

you need heat. buy an area heater. the small ones. put that on there and close everything up and let it get hot as hell in there. once it gets hot enough that it starts to steam the windows crack the wondow a little bit so the moisture starts to get out. just becareful where you put the heater so you don't cause a fire.

What I do is crack each front window 2- 3 inches and remove the drain plugs. If you leave the windows open too much it wont draw through them and wont dry it out quick enough.
Place the fan in the back and open the tailgate. I have dried my jeep out 100% after having water in the glove box in one night 8-10 hours of the box fan being on high I couldnt believe it was so dry after only one night johnny

Under carpets
If you have carpets, you need to get air under the carpets too. I do this by pulling up the carpets and then placing empty soda or beer cans underneath the carpet. It makes sure that the carpets won't collapse back against the floor.

Pull plugs, take out some of the carpet areas...not all needs to go, remove the backseat and take it in the house, put the top on but leave some openings around the top of the windows so that it can breath. I've put the side windows back on with the velcro only and left them unzippedor partially zipped. Use a few towels to get any excess moisture you can from the front seats and other areas. This has happend to me so many times I can't count them. Another thing I have done is not attach the bottoms of the windows when its parked, allowing it to rain and breath at the same time without getting any more water in the jeep.
Things I have picked up on this forum are...if you think its gonna rain, lean the front seats all the way forward, maybe putting a tarp over the area in your steering column. The drivers seat if fully leaned up along with a trash bag or small tarp will keep that area from getting wet while the seat holds it in place. This will help any electronics from getting messed up. I've heard stories of guys waking up at 2am to their horn going off. I wish I would have saved a few of the pictures guys have shown me on how to protect the Jeep just in case it may rain. Weather is something no one can fully predict.

This happened to me last week. Pull out your drainplugs, pull the carpet out that you can get to wo trouble and when you are not in it turn up the carpet under the petels and put towels down to absorb some of the water. For any smell, I used fabreze on the seats and ontop and under the carpets to iliminate the smell. Now its as good as slightly new

Turn your heat knob all the way to hot. Turn your A/C on full blast...It has A/C? Your A/C will remove moisture from the air and dump it on the ground. It will need the heat in order to get the moisture into the air. Run it for as long as you can. It works.

If you're that worried, get a blow drier and blow dry each seat

Towels and damp-rid. You can get it at most auto or boat stores. It is a buch of little "dippin dots" like things which go in this container and absorb the moisture. They work like a dream!
