Driver's Side Mirror Glass Replacement
Hey,
I was curious if anyone knew how to swap out a broken side view mirror glass for glass off a junkyard mirror i picked up. My jeep had a broken driver's side mirror (cracked) and I bought a mirror from a junkyard off a same year wrangler. Problem is, the new mirror from the junkyard's hardware is a bit rough. I basically don't want to have a glass company put a generic glass in there because I like the jeep stenciling at the top of it. Anyone done this before? How-to's would be appreciated. Thanks

There should be some kind of rubber gasket that holds it in. Pry it out, put the gasket back on the new mirror, re-install. It's probably also glue in, so the existing mirror may have to be broken to get it out. The new one will need more glue/caulk/whatever to cushion it and hold it in place.
If there's not a gasket, post a picture I can look at. I've done this before, just not on a Jeep and I think my mirror is different from yours. |
