Drilling holes in rollbar? Highlift mount.

Had been looking at a number of highlift mounting options and just did not find anything I really liked. I want the jack inside and wondered if there is any reason I could not just mount it in back, to the rollbar, by drilling a hole on each side through the rollbar and attaching it with 7/16 or 1/2 in bolts, putting either the bolt through the rollbar and nutting it to keep it there and then sliding the jack over the bolts and nutting it on, or just putting the bolts through the jack, sliding rubber insulators over the bolt, putting the bolts through the rollbar and nutting them. It seems any "weakening" of the rollbar would be offset by the jack becoming a cross brace/stressed member so to speak. Any thoughts?

Youcan use a couple of muffler clamps to mount it there, and you won't have to drill thru the cage.

I have done this with muffler clamps. I can take pics if you'd like?

I just thought the bolts would be alot easier and much more solid. I have seen the muffler clamp idea and was just wondering why we are making this more difficult than it needs to be? Plus I can drill throough the bolts for small padlocks. Plus I can remove the whole thing in seconds if I want to run without the jack.

You can drill through the bars if you want. It won't weaken them. I just threw out the muffler clamp idea, in case you changed your mind about having it there.

drillling the roll bar will seriously weaken it. if you must drill the bar you should sleeve it to regain strength

I installed mine with some chain link fence brace band. They are almost the exact same size as the roll bar (without the post 02 added padding), works perfect, no drilling, doesn't budge and looks good too.
Any hardware store should have them and are cheap. All you'll need is 2 longer carriage bolts to secure the jack to, 2 large washers, and 2 wing nuts.
