I'm adjusting the pinion alignment and noticed that the Double Cardan is loose in the center and can be moved slightly by pushing side to side by hand. The alignment is not finished and the pinion needs to be moved upward by about 5 degrees. I also have a drive train noise, tapping relationship to speed. My question is when I get it properly aligned, will the "tapping" go away or does the CV need to be rebuilt.
Maybe it's an optical illusion; but the shaft looks overextended (lots of exposed splines). Make sure the yoke on the transfer-case is tight; there should be no movement of the CV if all is good.

Pull your rear driveshaft out, drive around in 4WD (FWD), and see if the tapping goes away. If the tapping remains, it's something other than your rear driveshaft. If it goes away, check again with the rear shaft in after you align everything, and start looking up how to rebuild a DC joint (a PITA, but not overly difficult).
Tatton driveshafts have 7" of spline, which was handy because when I purchased my SYE kit, it had the wrong yoke so that when I took the measurement for the shaft and ordered it, and then found out when it was leaking that it was wrong, I needed to take 1.5" off of the ds to get it to work with the correct yoke. It does look like there is a lot showing of the splines, though.
