Ok, I'm hoping some of you can help out with this problem I might have. I want to eventually get an ARB Safari Snorkel for my TJ, but at the same time I wanted to buy those mirror relocation brackets that move your side mirrors from the door onto the hinge for the windshield. That way I could take off my doors without losing my mirrors. But the problem I am seeing is that the ARB snorkel tucks against the A pillar right where that mirror would sit...
Does anyone know of a mirror relocation bracket that would work in conjunction with a snorkel kit?
Thanks in advance...

I have an ARB Safari Snorkel in my garage that i will put on before too long . I am aware of the issue you bring up . I run without doors frequently and i will need to resolve the same "Dilemma" when i go to the snorkel set-up .
I do not know of any mirror mover out there that works with the snork . I'm going to fab my own mirror bracket when i install my snorkel . I'll be sure to post pix of my end result
Maybe someone else knows and can help us both

With a gasoline engine that would die and a fan that would destroy the radiator by being pulled into it if the engine were submerged, why do you guys feel the need for ARB snorkles?

I've never heard of a fan being pulled into a radiator while submerged. Is this common?

If your planning on putting a snorkel on and running in deep water, why in God's name do you want your doors off unless you are trying to see how much water you can let in.

X2
but just to answer for the sake of arguement.....
MOST (not all, your milage may vary, if you get a big ticket 'cause you didn't look up this law yourself for your particular state then you deserve it.. ) states require 2 working rear view mirrors when doing on road travel... this can usually include your rear view mirror so you're usually ok with a rear view mirror and then a driver's side mirror.

Last trip out it was raining and the mud holes were flooded. After wheeling for a good 4 hours, there was water at the bottom of my air filter box. The factory filter was 1/2 wet as well. THAT'S a reason to get one
I doubt Jerry would need such a thing since i believe rocks come in a hardened state, not liquid form

I think when the fan hits the water, the slight angle of the fan blades will cause it to more forwards and strike the radiator. I don't know if that can happen on a 4 cyl like mine since the fan is a good mile away from the radiator but i've seen it happen on a yj and cj before.

On the bottom of my mod list, but I want one eventually. Here are my reasons:
They helped prevent dust ingestion and forced cooler air into the engines of our vehicles in Afghanistan and Iraq where there was no water around at all except in the canals. I might move back to Arizona someday and it can get pretty dusty there. (I got this crazy dream of running El Camino Del Diablo too-pretty hot).
Also in my experiance with civillian type vehicles in military ops water crossings, the location of the airbox means it gets submerged on the approach into the water from the bank even if the water is not that deep overall. I have also seen a few rigs around here suck in the soupy mud mentioned above. I would rather replace my radiator and fan then the engine.
And OK, they look cool Drawback is they get hung up in low branches on tight trails. Turnig the snorkel head to the rear helps a little with this. And the mentioned mirror problem. OP, sorry for the hijack, but the question was asked.

Think of the fan like a boat propeller pulling/pushing itself through the water and yes it happens.

I understand the mechanics of how it could happen, this is just the first I've ever heard of the possibility of it happening. Thanks!

Well I want a snorkel, but not necessarily for deep water crossings. It is not just for looks, but the effect of cold air being forced into the engine. Also, I don't plan on going through water with my doors off at the same time. But if I relocate my mirrors on the windshield hinge, then I can't place the snorkel there.
And, I've heard that even in just moderate water depth that some can still get into the intake if the approach angle is severe enough. I doubt I'll get one right away, but something to think about down the road.
