differentials

where are the gear ratios stamped?? i cant find them. also, if i will tow a <2000 lb boat with 32x11.50's, what is the smallest gear ratio i can have? if i need to change the gears, can i do it myself easily or is professional installation better? one more thing. are the front and rear gear ratios supposed to be the same or can they be different?
thanks
gena

It will be on this tag. 3 07 or 3 73 etc.

1. Usually on a plate attached to the diff. If not, request your build sheet from DCX.

2. You shouldn't pull a 2000 lb boat w/ a TJ - or at least I wouldn't.

3. I'm guessing that like most of us, you shouldn't be changing your gears. It is a job that takes a bit of experience and training.

4. Front and rear must be the same unless you will NEVER put it in 4wd or unless you really want to know what it sounds like to make one of the pinion gears look like a snow cone.

TJs are rated at a towing capacity of 2000lbs. If you are sure it's less than 2000lbs. it should be ok, if you don't know or aren't positive get it weighed.

Send them an e-mail. Hit them up on the Contact Us part of their website. There isn't any special place for the build sheet. Just send in an inquiry. They are actually pretty good about responding. I got mine in a couple hours.

You need to enter your VIN w/ the inquiry.
