Differential Gear Ratio ID

Hi,

Dumb question, but how can I identify my differential gear ratios on my 99TJ 2.5L?

Thanks,

Jason

If it's a 5sp they would be 4:10's.

Get under your jeep and look at the differential housing on the top left corner there should be a tag and the gear ratio is stated on it....if i remember correctly the ratio is the first 3 numbers on the tag....if the tag isnt on the rear dif check the front..

refer to this: http://www.offroaders.com/info/tech-.../axlefacts.htm

another easy way to find out is look at your rear dif if it has a metal screw fill plug its a dana 44 if it is a plastic fill plug it is a dana 35....your front axle is definatly a dana 30...but while your under your jeep you can read the tag on the rear dif and find out what gears you have....kill two birds with one stone...

Front is a Dana 30, rear is a Dana 35c.

For future reference, the "Stock TJ Specs" sticky thread has the answers to your questions.
