Differences in soft tops from year to year
I am looking at getting a used soft top from an 04 TJ but was wondering if it would fit on my 97. In catalogs soft tops are being sold for either 97-02 or 03-06. Can anyone tell me what the differences are? Will a 2004 sailcloth softtop and frame fit on a 97?
Thanks

It will fit, as long as it includes the windows. You can not use the windows from your '97 on the new '04 top because the male/female zipper ends changed. As long as it is the complete top including the windows.

I am not sure about differences but I just installed soft top off 2004 Rubicon onto my 1997 TJ and it fits perfect. New frame and fabric, it all fits like a glove.
