We need to know what engine and tranny you have. Also, what size tires are you running?

He said X model. He has a 4.0
Most likely 3.07 gears. Look for a tag polted to the rear diff cover.

If you are asking, you probably can't do it yourself. To regearm things have to be EXACT, most people don't do them, heck, most shops don't do them.

order the R&P of your liking 4.11 or 4.56 and also the master install kits. Then take it to a very well known shop that installs gears! It is not the easiest thing to do but it can be done with someone else with experience doing it with you if you decide to conquer it yourself. There are specific tools needed if your going to do it by yourself.

You are probably going to need a new carrier also.
Take it to a shop, theyll probably only warranty their parts anyway.

Diff re-gearing on the dana 30 and 35 suck to no end more so on the 30. I just did mine a couple weekends ago, I also am a tech at a dealership. If you plan on doing this depending on what your current ratio is. If its below a 3.54 i believe you need a new carrier, ring and pinion, and I would just get install kits and replace all the bearings while you're there. If its above a 3.54 then you need all that stuff minus the carrier.
The jump from 3.07 to 4.10 with 33's wasn't so dramatic at first, but i've grown to love them. My next step is either 44's or 60's with a higher ratio for my hummer 36's Also for a good listing of junkyard parts try car-part.com |
