Didn't want to hijack another thread...but... (Driveshaft length for TT)

With the current mods that are in my sig, if I were to go with a TT would the driveshaft need to be lengthened or just adjust the UCA's?

It may depend on the TT. I put a Rokmen TT on before my RE 4.5/3.5 springs lift. The Rokmen raised my t-case 2.5", then the lift added approx 4-4.5" giving me about 6-7" of total t-case lift. When I measured for my custom shaft after my lift install it was only 1/2" longer than what RE recommended as an "off the shelf" CV shaft listed on some of these websites. What I'm saying is RE listed 26.5" for a short arm lift for my LJ Rubi. I measured 27". So I probably could have bought off the shelf and just adjusted the control arms. I don't know how important 1/2" is. You may not need to buy a new shaft just make some minor adj and save $300. Someone here will know. Hope that makes sense. Just my experience w/my jeep

Your LJ has a longer drive shaft so the angle isn't as bad. Pickup trucks can run a lot more lift and still use a stock drives shaft because the drive shaft is a lot longer.

You will need a longer drive shaft, I'm sure you can sell you used drive shaft on here and get some of your money back.

You could take the drive shaft to a local shop and have them lengthen it.

Should cost about $85 to lengthen if needed.

So since I put on the 4.5" RE lift and an SYE/CV if I were to go with a tummy tuck, I'd have to get my TW drive shaft lengthened? weak...

Not sure if I want to get the shaft lengthened or anything...would adjustable LCA's help more too with the UCA's adjusted properly?

I can't believe somebody hasn't chimed in yet. I don't think anyone should have to buy a longer shaft when they get a TT. I only needed 1/2". How can 1/2" make that much difference? Do we really flex that much that we would come apart with the extra 1/2" less of shaft due to the TT? Granted I'm not an offroad superstar but I think I would try to adj my control arms long before I would spend the cash on a new or longer shaft. imho

I was running my stock DS with a 2.5" lift. Then I installed Rokmen's TT and had to get a CV shaft from Tom Wood and adjustable UCAs.

I don't remember how much thread was left but I think I went "12" turns or so on each of my rear uppers to get it dialed in with my TT. You should have enough CA. I have the RE 4.5 SF w/adj CA and 3.5 springs and a Rokmen TT that added approx 2.5" of height and I'm setup fine. CA length shouldn't be an issue. Just whether you need the extra 1/2" or so of DS length. Call TW and see what Josh or Tom says.

Even better. See if some kind soul with your same RE setup and a TT would measure thier driveshaft and you can decide if you need a longer one compared to yours. My LJ may be way off for comparison. Hope I'm not making things worse
