Crap... I decided to try fixing a leak on my 97 tj rear driveshaft with my buddy who said it was an easy fix.. well I thought he knew exactly what to do and I just started following his lead. The only problem is we didn't read instructions on how to do this and just took it apart.
- What this means is I do not know if we put the rear pinon nut on to the correct tightness or not... I thought I read somewhere to tighten it to 14 ft lbs of torque only to find out it is the pinon bolt, not the nut that needs to be tightened to this torque setting. I have a Dana 35 Rear stock axle. Any opinions on how I can figure out how tight to tighten this after I have already taken it apart?
Is there a factory setting I can tighten it to or something? anyone fix this leak on their dana 35 and can tell me how tight they put theirs on so I can be in a closer ballpark for mine?
Also what happens if it is too tight?
what happens if it is too loose?
I figured If I break everything it is just a sign that I need to upgrade axles..
