The jeep is at the mech shop installing the tt at my dana30,some quick questions please help:
1)do i need to add a ltd slip additive in my dana30 since now i'll have a ltd slip in there? 2)is there a break in period?what should i do through it(drive slowly etc)?do i have to change the fluids in the dana30 after the braking in? 3)are there any installation instructions or walkthrough or sos points anywhere, cause my tt came without any instructions whatsoever! 4)anything else you'll like to advise? ![]() ![]()

Your LSD should have come with some paperwork. Raed it good for fluid requirements and break in procedures.
Off topic, but... LOL - at first I was so confused because TT on JF usually means tummy tuck

I would assume you need LS additive. I bet you can find out on Detriots website or at least e-mail them and they should be glad to give you that info. Sorry I'm not more help, I've never run or installed a Tru-Trac.

You do not need any special fluids for a tru trac because they are a gear driven limted slip, there are no clutches. As far as break in I would replace the fluid after about 500 miles just to be safe. I ran one for three years running normal gear oil in it with no problems.

No additive required for a Detroit tru-trac.

When I got my TrueTrac's installed, I also re-geared. The new gears required a 500 mile break in period but to my recollection, my mechanic did not mention anything – nor have I read anything for a required break in maintenance for the TrueTrac.

I would guess that there is no break in period for the trutrac itself but you are obviously going to be installing atleast new carrier bearings so that might call for something. As far as the initial oil change, the truetrac isn't going to emit any kind of material that you are going to have to get out of there but the initial break in of the bearings possibly will. Plus anytime I have got a diff cover off doing any kind of work in there other than a normal scheduled change I always change it fairly soon just to get any contaminants out that might have gotten in there in the process.

As a full carrier install unless you mechanic is a magician your gears will be wearing a slightly new pattern. I would pay attention for any abnormal noises and change the fluid at 500 miles.

want it rite or rite now?

I must be one of those magician's you speak of... carriers changed without new gears only need the backlash reset to where it is when It's pulled apart, provided it's in spec and they usually are unless another problem was present. if It's not checked prior to tear down then you may have a problem.

Yes, the rear LSD is tryimng to "push" thenvehicle straight. It will loosen up a tad and you will get used to it.

I don't quite understand what the rear has to do with the increased force-power the steering wheel is trying to return to center?
