death wobble Alignment pitman arms -HELP!
lemme list what i have on the jeep first:
4" procomp lift 33x12.5x15 BFG MT KM2 I had a dropped pitman arm and it felt like the front driver wheel was hopping. and reading on the forums, i see that a dropped pitman arm is not needed with a 4" lift, and it causes bump steer. I had the jeep aligned previous of putting the stock pitman arm back on. now that i have the stock pitman arm, not only did the mofo not straighten the steering wheel.. it seems to pull to the left now and i got a death wobble.. couldnt stop it until i brought the jeep down to 10mph. WTF Does the pitman arm screw with the alignmet/steering when changing from dropped to stock? the bump steer seems better... now just the DW and pulling to the left.. i also read somewhere to drill another hole 1/2" closer in where the trackbar mounts on the axle. IS this right? its currently in the new hole. Should i move it back? the jeep is great..... but this steering is a nightmare! HELP!

Changing from drop to stock pitman arm without an alignment would cause toe in, and your steering wheel will be off center. Get it lined up (I did my own with tape measure and a friend). This should help.

First, you did the right thing by reinstalling the OE Pitman arm. To straigthen the steering wheel, you just need to turn the adjustment link on the drag link (see below) until it's straight again.
If your front axle is a little to the side, yes relocating the passenger-side mounting bolt to a new hole drilled to the driver's side works well to help get it back to the center again. I ran mine like that for several years before I could afford an adjustable length trackbar. Your toe-in is likely off from changing the Pitman arm which can cause it to pull to the side. Adjust it so the front edge of the front tires are 1/16" to 1/8" closer together than they are in the rear per the instructions at http://www.4x4xplor.com/alignment.html. Just a little care will produce a toe-in adjustment every bit as accurate as an alignment shop can give. The bottom photos show a more accurate means of making that 1/16" to 1/8" measurement than is shown on that website. The aluminum tubing in the below photo is marked so it is the same as the tire size, so you would have it marked so the marks are 31" apart, centered on either side of the wheel. Finally, for your Death Wobble... make sure your passenger-side trackbar bolt is TIGHT (45 ft-lbs.) and that your tires are all perfectly balanced. Those two areas are frequent sources of Death Wobble.
