Dealer installed 3" lift and 33" tires

I didn't see this situation posted anywhere yet...

I recently got a 04 Wrangler X off the lot with a 3" lift and 33" wheels, along with some other miscellaneous accessories. The package lists for $4995. (I didn't pay that much for it...)

When i got it they assured me that it was done right and whatnot, but I forgot to ask them about the gearing until after I bought it. Of course they didn't know if it was changed, so they called the place they contracted to do the upgrades and they said that they don't change the gearing because it would cost too much.

I think the place was called Fortec out of Miami.

I'm almost positive I read my particular Jeep had 3.07s, which would be why it flys in reverse and 5th gear is basically unusable.

I think alot of people, maybe Chrysler too, would consider my Jeep unsafe just based on the fact that it goes so fast in reverse.

I wanted to know if anyone else got a Jeep with this package and if they also did not get the gearing changed like it should have been.

I'm going to contact Chrysler about it, (my concern is warranty issues that i might be forced into, and cost), but I was wondering if anyone else is in this situation and what the outcome was.

right i know, it wouldn't be so bad if it had 3.73. i don't know when they started to sell these off the lot like this, but i'm starting to see others out on the road. i'm looking for others that are in the same situation.

so if i changed them myself, the warranty would probably be voided, and if i had the dealer do it, they are going to charge me twice as much.

The ones I saw that were done for the stealership were all auto's w/ 3.73 gears. The shops do not change gears for these set ups. Just look at your build sheet and the gears will be listed there.

later

What else is in your X? Depending on the tranny, you could have 3.73's. It's pretty hard to get 3.07's but your dealer might have gotten a drivetrain-stripped model if he already knew he was going to put a lift on it.
