Dash cluster power?
Last night I stopped to fill up with gas. When I got back in the Jeep and started it, I had no gauges. The lights on the dash work, but there is no tach. speedo, oil, gas. The odometer is also black. ANY IDEAS ON WHAT HAPPENED.
Is it a possible short somewhere? I have noticed that my intermitten wipers are not working anymore. The wipers also won't return "home" when they are shut off, they stop where they are. Can this be a cause?

Remove the cluster and clean the connections and apply dielectric grease.

Common thing... freaked me out when it first happened.
Just pull the cluster and lightly rub/move the tabs in the connector without bending them. Did it to mine once and the problem has not come back in almost 2 years.

i just pounded the top of the dash with my fist, haven't had it happen since. If it happens again I'll take it apart and fix it right.

It's a common problem. I've always used the pound the dash technique over the past few years but since I just removed the instrument cluster to install LED's in place of the the bulbs, I took time to tweak the connections a bit.
