Dana 35 trashed- need some info

2006 Wrangler X - Dana 35 open diff 3.73 27 spline

I was going to upgrade my axles because I lost a c-clip. Then I found out why. The end of the left axle was chewed up, along with the gears where the axle goes into the diff. Would that be the axle yoke? Looking from the differential side into the axle shaft, it's obvious the gears are totally shot. I can't seem to find a diagram that names the thing. And how hard is the part to replace? I'm barely qualified as a shade tree mechanic, even though I work on mechanical crap for a living. I guess safes and currency handling stuff is a bit different though. This is turning into more of an adventure than I planned on, but I can't afford to spend tons on this right now. I was also wondering if I ordered a Differential Case Assembly how hard is it to install? Does it bolt in without messing with shims, etc? I don't have the tools, cash, or knowledge for a swap at the moment.

u cant re gear it yourself. it takes special tools and knowledge.
buy a used tj take out dana 35 for cheap on most boards.
make sure it has the correct gear ratio.
u can unbolt the old axle and bolt in a new one, its simple.
