Dana 35 with 37's?

Ok so I know flat out on this forum everyone bad mouths the dana 35 because of its weaknesses. But just how strong can a fully built one be? Im talking truss, c-clip eliminator, superior shafts, detroit locker, and 4.88's? I know people a lot of times complain about the weaknesses but what if they were all adressed like above. Then what can it handle, 37's? I know members like silvergoat have not been gentle on their rigs and he was running a d35 with 35's.

with the money you'll be sinking into it why not just buy a 8.8 or dana44?

With all those upgrades, you're still left with the D35 ring & pinion gears plus the housing. Not to mention the front Dana 30's axle housing, axle tubes, ball joints, u-joints, knuckles, etc. are not up to 37" tires. Leave those 37's in the tire stores until you can replace both your axles.

Getting Savvy...

When you have a choice, buy American.

you could build a S35 over time where as the 44 or 8.8 would have to be built at once. unless you are willing to wait a while while building the 44 or 8.8 before you put on 37s.

the only jeep ive ever seen it done on was silvergoats old rig. i dont think i would do it though. i love my s35 and trust it with my 35s but i dont know about 37s

so you're going to drop $2000 + labor into a D35c when you could go to a junkyard, find a D60 and have it installed, and have new wheels for less?

It cant. But neither does anything that is required to run 37s.

It can't, thats my point. You can buy a D60, buy the brackets, buy new wheels, and have someone weld the brackets on and have the axle installed for less than what it will cost for all the D35 upgrades you listed.

you've heard wrong then. the front uses the same u-joints, ball joints, unit bearings, knuckles and outter axles as a TJ D30. both front and rear use the same 2.5x0.25" axle tubes as the TJ/XJ/YJ D30/D35.

Talk to spyder6 about 37s on rubi 44s

edit: unlimited04 beat me to it on the ball joints and knuckle issues with the front rubi 44.
