d35 outer seal , how does it looks and how to replace

i`m converting my 07 project to disc , i removed the drum brakes and decided to replace the outer seal, they were no leaking but since i`m here just do it, i got the replacement seals from buywise(local autoparts), now here is my problem the do not fit, the od on the seal i got is bigger than the hole on the and of the tube , when i removed the old seal only ruber with the spring came out, no metal now it the seal just ruber ?? or did the metal on the seal rusted away( i guess is posible it was really rusty) ir par of the seal still in there , there is a lip that looks like it could be a cup from the seal but if i`m not wrong part of the housing, i have looked all over the forum but all the info is about the dana 44, not much on 35, if jerry or some of the more experienced member could point me in the rite direction.
cheers
