Those things look like poo-poo. PM me for an address that you can send them to, where they will be properly disposed of.
![]() Kidding aside, very nice work, man. I think those look great.

I give it 2 thumbs up. I really like that rear bumper design. That is slick. For the front I prefer the shorty bumpers, but that is a nice design.

Looks good...
Front tube guard should be round tube instead of box sections though.... and in the rear I would change your tire carrier mount to include an upper plate on the hinge bolt. It's the way ARB does it and I'm sure it's a major contributing factor to how solid the tire mount is. |

make an X or H pattern, add gussets to the base and top where the forces will be concentrated here the FEA I did on mine: ![]() Notice the 1/4 plate gusset under the tire carrier 'hitch' and at the hinge.

what forces did you use to test your design?

i think this was 500lbs vertical force on the tire carrier 'hitch', all along that inside surface. I made the ID of the hinge an fixed constraint. I then looked for force on the gussets and weld areas, and a vertical deflection at the hinge location. I made a droop stop at my latch, and padded it with some 3/8" solid rubber, so that if the hinge is forced to flex due to weight, it will bottom out on the latch side, creating 2 points to dissipate forces, instead of all the force creating a torque on the hinge.
I also did a little FEA on getting rear-ended (or sitting the jeep on its rear), to see how much deflection I would see if somebody hit the spare tire. No pictures, but its not pretty at all....the tailgate is pretty much gone. This is why I drive with a long hitch sticking out past my spare. My spare is adjustable so I can put 2 gas cans on the carrier to...or suck the tire down if I don't want to carry so much junk around.

if the complete set-up...front and rear could be bought and shipped for less than a grand i'd be in for the front and rear.
i personally think they are bad ***.i have the bestop high rock front and rear w/ approach rollers and would get rid of them both for your setup....i personally would not want a stinger...maybe a hoop over the winch mount but the big *** stingers are not my style. look's great..keep up the excellent work. |
