Are you suggesting something like this, Blaine?

I thought about that, but am not sure I have room for it with the spring being in such close proximity. Where the little bit of black overspray is on the spring is exceptionally tight with regard to the spring/mount. I'll look at it again tonight but I really don't think I can make it work. But let me know if that's not what you were referring to.

Had to run home at lunch and my jam nuts were FINALLY waiting on the porch! So I quickly mocked everything up. Nothing is aligned, torqued, or kotter-pinned yet, but here's some pics...

Note the tie rod end bushing between the TRE and the knuckle (it's black):

I'll drive the damn thing tonight come hell or high water!

So tonight I got home, tightened everything, aligned it, and took it for a spin. It drove great!! No sign of death wobble even with no steering stabilizer. There is definitely some bumpsteer, but it's not horrible. I could live with it, but probably will fix it at some point. Took it up to 75 mph a few times and it drove fantastic. I could even take my hands off the wheel at over 70 and it still tracked straight and true. I may not even take it to get it professionally aligned! Here's a couple pics...

Nice write up. It looks as if yoiu could space down the upper track bar mount and get it to the same angle as the steering and eliminate your bump steer.

Thanks! Yeah, what I'd really like to do is raise up the lower track bar mount or lower the upper one to get it parallel. I'm about tired of fabbing stuff at the moment so I may look into what kind of kits are available. Oh, who am I kidding? I'll likely cheap out again and make something.

What are those TREs off of or do you happen to have the P/Ns? Thanks.

They're "one ton" GM tie rod ends, but I think they're the same from 1/2 ton through 1 ton trucks.

You've got it correct.

From Parts Mike-

There are many 4X4 Internet sites and companies that make reference to custom steering components and list ES2233L and ES2234R tie rod ends as being "1 Ton" parts. These are actually GM ½ - ¾ ton K/V series tie rod ends used on 1976-1991 second generation vehicles.

Besides, there's no such thing as a 1 ton TRE. Go to your local parts store and ask for one.

There are TRE's that were used on 1 ton stuff, but there is no specific TRE that all 1 tons used.

BTW- The tap showed up. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, that's why whenever I describe what parts I used, I use quotes, i.e. "1 ton" since these are commonly referred to as 1 ton, but really aren't that special.

No problem, Blaine. I hope a check was okay! Many thanks again!!!
