cracked windshield AGAIN!!

Does anyone have a trick to save on windshields?
I got one replaced last year, and acquired a crack last night. I put a claim with the Insurance company so they will take care of it.
but is there anything to do to keep from getting cracks/chips?

You can add a wind/bug guard up front but they rarely help because of the extreme angle of the windshield. All a matter of luck.

I went through something like 3 windows in about 18 months before I put a bugshield up front. My jeep see's a lot of gravel roads.

I have found it to make a difference at speed because it changes how the wind hits your jeep and it creats a wind channel up over the windshield instead if into it. It's certainly no miracle worker, I still get bugs, and is easy to snap the bugshield, but fwiw since I put a bugshield on I have not broke a window. (KNOCK on Wood!)

Was it actually a rock? or a crack from the lower part of the windshield up?

If its a crack from the bottom of the windshield, did you have your defroster on? I know that causes them to crack at speeds when its cold out, and you have the defroster on. Thats how my first one cracked.

Just google search them. I don't know how far they travel but they come to you and replace the windshield.

Mine started a crack in the bottom-center of the glass about 2 years ago. Now it's about 6 inches long, but I don't even notice it anymore.

BTW, check Quadratec #12501.303, It says TJ windshield glass for $110. Is this correct?
