So in your case using the Honda civic kit... you would need:
$30 for the Honda civic kit which includes the filter and cut down your stock tube to mate up

$12 for the 2 - Air Intake ducts – Part No. 8148
(unless you want the tube running through your firewall rigid and bouncing around)

$10 for the 90 degree elbow

$16.00 for two Intake Tube Couplers (one to attach elbow to duct, one to attach to the honda tube to the intake duct)

So between $56 and 68 bucks doing it your way

Hey, I'm happy the way mine turned out
you wouldnt need the ducts or a 90 degree elbow

the honda intake tube is angled on the end you put in the cowl already and you just buy a hole saw that match's the tube diameter and toss a little silicone around the edge where it meets the firewall

Any noticeable difference in power due to drawing in colder air?

That's real cool. That set up looks like it will also help keep you from hydrolocking the engine.

I turned the filter with a 90 degree elbow because I didn't want it over exposed to the vent... Ie, WATER intake..

Actually yes, I noticed a power difference... my throttle response was a lot better and my gas mileage seems better, but I will know more after I run this full tank of gas out.

Without the radio on, It makes a cool sound when you step on it... like a Woooosh sound.. Definitely make you aware that you are stepping on it... lol

I like it. I may do it this summer. I have a K&N cone already and plan on reusing that. I would probably add a paper filter on the engine when I do it.

Just make sure your drain is clean under that cowl- you get that clogged and you might as well put your intake in a bucket of water

drilling thru the fire wall did you just get a very large hole saw? and the box over your intake is that the old style tj box could you just run the hose to the tb on a newer tj

hole saw.. yes.. Although if you are using my method with the two ducts, go as big as the duct diameter itself that way the hole is not to big and the pipe fitting will fit through it almost snug.

and you can run the hose to your current Intake piping just fine, just cut the pipe. The box you see in my photo's was from another airbox project since my old intake pipe shat the bed and I just kept using it since it had the return air line petcock for the engine gases.

And onlyn8v is right.. make sure that drain is clean.. or you can either have an intake full of water, or a passenger side cab full of water driving down the road.. lol.

Remember, in my setup, I took out that AC air dam and pounded down some of the metal as I was working with another setup before this hit me. I am thinking of putting it back in with some minor fabrication or even putting a small dam of sorts to keep water out off the floor of the jeep in a down pour.

Normal rain isn't a big thing, but a torrential downpour might result in wet floors

if you put something like this on you could possibly get a ram air effect as well as help keep water out.
