I even made a lockable trunk out of 1/4 " diamonf=d plate aluminum from plans off this website. I'll post some pics later. I see the 04'-06' LJ's going up in price over the years for clean stockers.

The 120k milage on this thing is my one concern. It's one owner though.

Are you positive its an 04 and not an 05 that was made at the end of 04?
I would use the fact that a Rubi clone is not the same as a Rubicon. Its worth more to me if the parts came original and not some dummy putting them in from a salvaged Jeep possibly. One thing that also will tell you if it was a Rubicon to start with is there will be some 1" rubber spacers under the 3rd brake light, where it mounts to the carrier.

12k for an '04 LJ? Wow that's a great deal. Looks great too. I have to say that is the only stock LJ I've ever seen, that I think looks good.

I looked at an 05 with 80k for just under 11. It was a stick and in decent shape. I spent a bit more and went with a Rubicon with 45k that was cleaner but it set me back another $5k

I'm hearing availability of new engines is a problem because of the Chrysler BK. That is concerning because the reason I'm looking is I can't find a motor for my lifted Suburban.

Wow!! Those prices for the LJ's are c r a z y
I keep mentioning this...I bought the LJ below for $7,600 from ADESA Impact, a nationwide insurance liquidator. It needed a front bumper and a front axle. It already had the RK 4" lift with adjustable LCA's, those nearly new 33" Dayton tires, 6 speed, AC, 41K on the clock and runs like new. It cost me a total of $600 to rebuild and retitle, including all new components for the front and rear LCA's.
I'm just sayin', if you know a registered dealer, it's well worth checking out, even if you do get saddled with a salvage title.

You paid 7600$ for a SALVAGE title, I'd say 15k for a showroom quality stocker, female driven, never off road, no OPDA issues, and several goodies to go with it...is ok by me.
The only LJ for sale in Knoxville at the time had 120k miles, started life in NY then NJ before auction (rust), the hard top was cracked, for 17,900 firm.

Threeb, How do I join the LJ Owners Group? I have a 04 with. 34k miles. I paid 14.5 three months ago and picked up a hard top for 1k. I turned down 16.4 for it the other day. This is my sixth TJ in the last 18 mnths. I've been trading them, but I can't part with this LJ. I believe they will be true classics some day.

As long as you plan to keep the Jeep for awhile, who cares if it has a salvage title or not? Salvage title only affects resale. If the frame is straight, swap the parts that are bad and move on.
LJ's are crazy expensive where I live - so I'm going to make my own. Cut the frame, weld in 15" of new frame, put some LJ corner guards with TJ cutouts, and roll!

And I will say it again as biffgnar already said it, it doesn't matter because there was no factory rubicon for an 04 unlimited. It can't be if it didn't exist

I'm back home without the LJ.
It was clean and straight body wise. Really clean in and out, with a clean engine compartment and fresh fluids. But there were some issues. It has a pair of KC lights one was broken. One of the stock bumper mounted lights was broken too. A few scuff of paint on the one of the front flares. I didn't spend too much time looking for every little problem. Engine sounded real good, ran good. 4 wheel drive all worked. Slight metallic 'clunk' when shifting from R to D. I'd give it a B+
The previous owner kept his "Rubicon" cloning efforts limited strictly to cosmetics. Badging, wheels/tires, and flares, so what we have is a fairly good example of a higher milage (near 120k) Unlimited.
NADA highest retail value for this equipment and milage is $13100. KBB 14100. It is advertised at $13900.
I offered $12. He said "no, book on the vehicle is 15+". I ask if he's sure he's not confusing it with the Rubicon's KBB book value of 14800?
Pointing out that the package was not offered that year. Things got a little sketchy here. He got defensive. I told him to relax, I'm not a cop, and I am interested regardless.
I offer 12500. He says no. I thanked him for his time and left.
