Clutch will not engage

i tried to search for this and couldnt find any posts with the exact problem im having. I was on my way home from work today and i get 5 min away from my house and i have no power. the motor revs and i can move the transmission into any gear with the jeep on or off. the clutch has pressure but will not engage. I still have to press the clutch in to start the jeep but it will idle in 1st gear or any gear with the clutch "open". it makes me think the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate. but I always thought when that was the case you couldnt get the clutch to open.

Sounds like something let go in there.
Did it make any noise when it happened?
Does it make noise while idling in gear?

Possibly your TO bearing is stuck on the tube that it slides in and out on.
Pull out the slave cylinder and see what you can see.

Being in the Word... grows your tire size.
Prayer... gains more ground clearance.
Fellowship... Is like having a good spotter.

The more of these you have... the easier it is to get over obstacles in your path.

I agree, the throwout probably is wedged or came apart on the input shaft retainer sleeve. I suppose the pressure plate teeth could've broken too.

If you have it in gear and try to start it with the clutch disengaged does it jump forward? That'll let you know if the disc is moving away from the flywheel.

That was my other thought the throwout bearing has been going out since i bought it 30k ago. But i thought i would hear that for sure.... anyway that's where i will start. It doesnt jump forward if i start it with the clutch disengaged. so i guess the pressure plate should be fine. anyway i found a project for the weekend. Thanks for the quick reply
