Clutch Bypass??

So when I was out playing around the other day I realized i could start without pushing the clutch in when I'm in 4Lo.
Is that normal? Is it just a cool Rubicon thing? am I an idiot for taking 4 months to figure this out?

my 03 x can do it also... it's called the clutch switch defeat.... if you take the fuse out it will require you to use the clutch....

i chose to put the fuse in...

Yeah that Rubicon has a standard clutch bypass when in 4lo. If you wanted to do it for 2wd and 4hi you would have to mess with the fuses.

Thanks for the tip! Just tried it today on mine, just wish I could always start it without the clutch.

You can - insert a 20 amp fuse into position #20 - that will bypass the entire shebang.

I tried that. In mine location #20 has no connectors for the fuse to engage. Thought that maybe since I have cruise control that they don't allow it. Otherwise when the cruise is engaged and I push the clutch in, it would allow the engine to free rev.

I wired a switch onto mine so I could turn it on or off. My wife drove my Jeep occassionaly and I had a son that was getting ready to drive - didn't want to take the chance. Of course had I found JF before I did the wiring I would've bought one of those fuse inserts that has wires coming out of it that you can attach a switch too - as it was I tapped into the wiring at the clutch pedal!

i have a 06 sport and there is a pressure loaded cylinder attached to the clutch. If you zip tie it back (best way I could think of) its bypasses the clutch as well. You can also get a relay to install that will do the same trick. I used the zips ties because they were free. plus now my remote start works.

I'm gonna have to try that fuse thing. I was so frustrated the other day when I needed to shift in a puddle up to my headlights and couldn't
