clunking RE Gen II
So, thanks to the checklist provided in all of the "clunking front end" threads, I believe I have determined that my drivers side RE Gen II disco clunks where it mounts to the sway bar.
If that one side is disconnected, no clunking. If the passenger side is disconnected and the drivers side connected, it clunks. If they are both connected, it clunks. If they are both disco'd, no clunk. I have also checked over the trackbar mounts, shocks, all CAs, rear trackbar, TC linkage, TC skid bolts, TC mout bolts. Everything is snug! I am running Currie steering and I painted the disco to verify that it wasn't contacting the draglink or anything else. My question is, with one side disco'd and the other connected, could that allow just a little more "give" in the suspension to eliminate some other component from causing this clunk or have I pretty much nailed it down? My Gen IIs are about 6 months old and I can't believe they are bad already! Thanks!

I dont remember how they are configured, but can you swap them around and see if the clunking switches to the others side? Just trying to think of something....

Is it clunking at the bar mount, the axle mounted stud, or the hiem?

Is it b/c your swaybar moves side to side and hits the frame? If so you can buy some pipe collars to secure it from moving around thus potentially solve the clunking issue.

nope, the sway bar stays pretty well locked into place as far as moving side to side. I really think it was that the drivers side bolt might not have threaded all the way into the mount, like it was just a hair too long. When I switched the discos and bolts to opposite sides, it stopped clunking. We'll see how long it lasts. Thanks.

On a side note:
I had one of those "Shoulder" bolts back out on me while driving once. I learned the hard way that they are $12 each to replace. If you haven't already I would put some lock-tite on the threads!
