climate control knob
My knob broke in to two pieces this past weekend and I can't find one that fits at the auto part store, do you know where I can get or order just a stander knob?? when searching for them online, they are fancy ones sold in set of 3 for $30 I just want the basic black or OME. I only have one knob and then the adjusters from hot to cold in a line. I live in Arkansas and it gets pretty hot and humid and need some air every now and then other than outside air. It is hard for my fingers to turn without it!!!! My four year old would appreciate the air too

have you checked ebay? I have seen some cheap knobs on there, you could always scour the local junkyard too.

I checked junk yards when I was looking for parts for my jeep about a month ago, and no one had any jeeps period. I'll check e-bay again, i don't know if I searched for the right name, b/c nothing showed up. I'll look again

just saw that and put a bid on it. Don't know how high I want to go though with out still searching other places, they have 3 available and asking for about $8 for starting bid. Do you think i could do a temporary fix by glueing the two pieces together? what would you suggest that would be tuff and hold!!!!

As a quick fix, you could use some model glue and put it back together and see how it works. Just make sure the glue is dry before you attach the knob back to the unit.

thanks, I'll try that in the mean time. I have three days till I find out if I will get the one on e-bay or not!!! It is already getting close to 90 degrees here and is humid at the top of the day. Still nice in the mornings and evenings though!!!

My climate control (fan) only works on settings 1, 2, and 4....do you think getting one of these would fix that?

Morgen251 When I finally found them on e-bay, there were quite a few for 1999 TJ's and pretty cheap, wouldn't hurt to find out if it would fix your problem

my '98 knob broke just like yours. I repaired mine and it has worked fine for a couple years now.
Note that there is a "D" shaped sleeve made out of spring steel (in case you didn't see it/it isn't still in one of the knob halves). Remove the spring steel piece (or leave it out if it is already) and glue the two halves together with Loctite Super Glue GEL. The model glue might well work too, but I know the gel super glue works. After holding the two pieces together as hard as I could for about 30 seconds I let it set overnight (superglue "sticks" almost instantly, but will achieve full strength after a few hours). The next morning I reinserted the sleeve into the knob and viola! Still works today. |

If you are going to pay that much, you may as well put a few extra $$$ with it and get the aluminum knobs, then be done with it. I'm not paying $11.00 or $12.00 for another plastic one. My opinion.
